Post: Affordable portable sound field system
 K Posted on 10/31/09
I am a student teacher and, having just finished my
observation days, will be starting my first practicum on
Monday. One problem that I have found with the couple
lessons I have taught is making myself heard above the
background noise. My natural speaking voice is very quiet
(so I have been told) and I am really straining to speak
louder, but still can't make myself heard by all the
students, all of the time.
My host teacher is amazing and already approached the school
administration about adjusting the ventilation system to
reduce some of the background noise. However, I'm worried
about losing my voice or losing the students' attention. I
know I need to work on my voice, but I also need a more
immediate solution. I'm looking into the possibility of
buying a sound field system that I can use take with me from
classroom to classroom - for my two practicum periods,
internship and any future placements. The ideal would by a
dual mic system, one for the teacher and a pass-around mic
for students.
So far I have looked at a couple different system, but I am
still waiting for information about pricing. One that
particularly interests me is the SMART Audio system as it
could be integrated with other SMART products in the future.
I would appreciate suggestions. Thank you.
