there is an amplification system that is used for hearing impaired
children - We''ve had them in my previous school. They're great -
I think it's also called an FM system -but that might be something
else. The one I used had a wireless mike that you could wear
around your neck plus another one for the kids to use that looked
like a regular microphone. The speaker was bout a metre or so tall
and about 20cm wide and it was easy to carry.
The school got it from a SEA grant -
The thing about these systems is that ALL students benefit -- not
just the hearing impaired. It is very useful for LD kids as well -
Plus - the bonus is - it saves the teacher's voice.
I don't know what the company name is - but if you ask around -
especially to spec. ed staff or if you have an itinerant hearing
teacher or something similar.
