Peel - Alphakids Level A/B/C (corresponds with level 1/2/3)
Level A is very much just picking up on the pattern of the
story; we are told to read them the first page, but I don't
usually do this because I want to see if they can actually
read any of the words on their own; if not, I read it to
them and if they do not pick up on the pattern, then I'm
really concerned; basically, there's a picture of a child
dressed up as an animal or character on each page, and the
text reads "I am a rabbit." "I am a cat." etc.
Level 2/B and 3/C does require 'real' reading -- more complex
words and sentences, and not as heavily patterned
Most SKs are at a 2/B or 3/C by the end of the year.
